Meet Patti and Franco Fonseca, the proud owners of Tender Heifer Snack Co. which produces and distributes the incredibly delicious Smokehouse Jerky Co.
Patti began her last career with a startup chemical manufacturing company that produced materials for bridge decks. She spent 11 years there and worked her way to the top of the organization into a managerial leadership role. Franco owned and operated a family entertainment company for 12 years before selling the business to join his wife Patti at the chemical plant.
After 2 years together, the owners of the the plant sold the business and not long after the Fonseca's realized their need to move on. Both Patti and Franco missed being entrepreneurs and had always dreamed of owning a resort or marina together.
While one their quest for their next business venture in Oregon and Washington, Patti and Franco became frustrated. The couple had spent nearly three months driving throughout the Pacific Northwest looking at various locations, and despite making an offer on one of the properties it was not accepted.
This was another important day for the Fonseca's as they realized owning a resort or marina was not what they had thought it would be. The frustration and inability to find a location lead the husband and wife to seek something different.
The very first business Patti found on a business for sale website was Tender Heifer Snack Co.
The pair made a call to the owners and talked for a while about the business and decided to drive straight to their home to discuss in more detail.
From the Canadian border Patti and Franco drove straight through to the home of the business owners in Beaumont, CA. They met with them, tasted the jerky and asked lots of questions before deciding to make an offer that very day!
The deal was closed on January 2, 2017 and since then they have hit the ground running.
Tender Heifer Snack Co. has grown quickly with private label accounts like Knott's Berry Farm as well as connecting with distributors across the country.
